Question & Answer
How is the price of each record determined?
Vintage Records considers all aspects of the record when making pricing decisions. Decisions are based on quality and condition of the record and the jacket, make and label of the record, and vintage list value.
Original Pressings vs. Reissues
Quite often the question will arise with a particular record: Is this an original or reissue?
Originals (or first pressings) are preferable for an antique dealer,
And can usually be recognized by the label.
Reissues are often simply re-prints of the first pressings
And show very little difference between them.
Many recordings have never gone out of print and are now available on CD, which
may lessen their collecting value.
If you have an original pressing of a rare record, it's a good idea to hang onto it!
Is the inventory updated frequently?
Yes. Here at Vintage Records we aim to bring you the most current representation of our inventory, complete with the latest information on your favorite artists and the best sales and bargains!

The

John
Lennon has been upheld as an American icon, not only in rock n'
roll, but in the pop culture as well.Although, he spent a
good deal of his career as a family man, staying at home, the

ABBA was the only
popular band of it's time to come out of it's home country,
Sweden.Because of it's simple lyrics, and even simpler
melodies, combined with it's layered vocals, the band was
instantly a huge success.Anna, Benny, Bjorn, and Anni-Frid
were all individual musicians in Sweden before they joined
together to form ABBA.After the group broke up in 1982, ABBA's
sentimental qualities only drew in more of an audience. The
colorfullness and cheery quality to their songs, made ABBA a band,
that was difficult not to like. Best Buy:

Pat
Benetar was trained as a classical singer in her teen years and
almost attended the Juliard School of Music, until her
attitude about Rock n' Roll got the best of her. She
married twice, Benetar often expressed her feelings about
relationships through her music. She remained the Queen of
Rock n' Roll through most of the 1980's; only to be pushed off
the charts when Grunge took it's scene in the early
1990's. Bets Buy: In The Heat of The Night, (available to you

The Beatles The
Beatles were said ot be interpreters for their generation. While
one dimensional music seemed to take precedence in the industry,
the Beatles rocked the music scene, with liberating sounds and
album art. John Lennon met Paul McCartney and George Harrison in
1957; and as they all shared the same appreciation for black R
& B, they formed a band, with great vocal harmonies and a
solid backbeat. The band played in many clubs throughout Germany,
which greatly helped them to become recognized, musically. The
band members met up with Ringo Starr and he was hired to replace
their then drummer, Pete Best. The Beatles released their first
LP, soon after that and became the first rock group to have
international recognition through Europe, Asia, and America.
Lennon and McCartney were the band's composers, and they made the
crowd's wild with their chord structures and three part harmonies.
In 1966, the group had become tired of live performances and
decided to only do studio work. The Beatles were also founders of
their own record company, Apple Records. But in 1968, the band
began to fall apart, with problems arising from egos and family,
among other things, and by the early 1970's, the band had
officially spilt up. All began their own solo careers, with
Lennon's and McCartney's being the most prominent. Any hopes of
the Beatles reuniting ended with the tragic assasination of John
Lennon in 1980. Though the three remaining members did reunite for
a final collaboration, in which they added their voices to two of
John Lennon's demos, it was never the same without their fourth
member. Best Buys: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey
Road, and Revolver, (all available to you through the Vintage

Dian Ross She was
labeled as the Queen of Motown, and as a highlight of the
Supremes, Ross thrilled audiences with her sophistication and
light airy quality. She established herself in films, such as,
"Lady Sings The Blues", and "Mahogany". She worked with RCA and
left Motown in 1981, but came back to Motown eight years later.
The Rolling
Stones During the first ten years of their career, the
Rolling Stones defined themselves as the standard Rock n' Roll
Band. The Rolling Stones were never into experimenting with
different musical sounds or branching out to different styles of
music. Mic Jagger borrowed a lot of his ideas form popular
performers of the time such as, James Brown and Jackie Wilson.
Keith Richards and Mic JAgger wrote lyrics that were at times
lacking sentimentality and creativity, but the rhythm section made
up for this in many ways. The Rolling Stones entered their 50's,
much like the Blues singers they so looked up to, still singing
about the woes of the world. Best Buy: Aftermath and Beggar's
Banquet, (both available to you through the Vintage Records
Website).

1970. This album contained their very popular hit single, "And I Love You So". McLean's second big break came with the release of

of her generation and the music of generations to come.

ukelele and the guitar, so that she could play at parties.

song, "Both Sides Now", and turned it into a Top 10 hit.
In that same year, Mitchell's first album was released to rave reviews and
many albums followed, with the album, "Court and Spark", marking the peak of
her career.

new types of music, such as electronic and ethnic.

Harry Nilsson
Harry Nilsson had a vocal range that left other singers of his time, feeling
envious, one might say.
Nilsson was not the type of singer to cover one specific theme, but to
venture through different styles of music, form song to song.
As a young adult, Nilsson was living in Los Angeles, working in a bank at
night and hoping to land his big break in the music industry.
He finally became a huge success in 1967, with his debut, "Pandemonium Shadow Show".
He became extremely well known soon after for his song, "Everybody's
Talkin'", form the film, "Midnight Cowboy".
A close friend of John Lennon's, Nilsson was outraged at the tragic and
sudden death of his companion and began campaigning against guns, making
that a central focus in his life.
He returned to composing music just before his own death, and continues to
be upheld as a great musical legend.
Best Buy: Nilsson Schmillson, (available to you through the Vintage
Records Website).
Francoise Hardy
Francoise Hardy won the hearts of her audiences with love ballads and pop
songs.
She was introduced to the music scene in the mid 1960's and came directly
out of France.
In her early teens, Francoise taught herself how to play the guitar and
began wrting her own songs.
In her late teens, she sang professionally at clubs and earned a record deal
through a French Record Company, Vogue Records.

Mary Hopkin

Tom Jones
A greatly admired and and hip-swinging singer, who left the 60's pop scene
to explore the lights of Las Vegas, Tom Jones enlisted his wondorous dance
moves to make the crowds go wild over him.
Jones had a fleeting resurge during the 1980's, pairing up with then popular
singers of the time.
Jones, now in his 60's still makes appearances and thrills the crowds who
remain his most devoted fans.
The Doors
One of the most impressive and admirable bands of the 1960's, the Doors
covered some pretty amazing songs, including, "Back Door Man" and "Alabama
Song".
Their sound was quite unique and no band to this day really sounds at all
like them.
Their dark soud set them aside from the other more optomistic sounding
groups of their time.
The band attributed a great deal of their central focus around Jim Morrison,
the band's lead singer.
The blues sound also brought a strong influence to their musical sounds.
How to Care for your Original LP
As records are very delicate, by nature and most of the records you will be
dealing with will be somewhat aged, it is important to know how to handle
your original LP.
Always handle records by the edges. It is best to handle the LP by the
center and by one edge, to avoid the record getting any scratches.
Never touch the grooves in the record, as the oils in your hands could
possibly hinder the playing of the record.
Store the LP in it's original inner sleeve. If the inner sleeve did not
come included with the record, there are plenty of inner sleeve that will
work, plastic, paper, rice paper, etc.
Do not store your LPs in a basement, near a heater or furnace, near nicotine
or heat.
